There is a hidden
longing and need that is very real and very deep within the
human psyche; the need for renewal and rejuvenation of the
spirit by reconnecting with the natural world, of which we are
an integral part - to get back to basics and see things as
they were when the world was young. To be able to step out of
the artificiality of concrete jungles with all their incumbent
stresses and strains, turn back time and immerse oneself in
the natural world is a unique and enriching experience that
satisfies the soul. And to be able to do this in pampered
luxury adds another unique and very special dimension.

Robert and William Carr-Hartley, whose 18 years of experience in
the safari business has always epitomized excellence, style and
artistry, blended with a sensitive understanding of the nature
of all animals. Together these seasoned Operators offer a five,
(no - six star) wilderness camping experience incorporating
comfortable mobility to different destinations throughout
Africa, custom designed to suit every taste and need, including
Home Stays in up-market and intimate establishments embodying
the pioneering spirit of Africa. Added to all this is the
possibility of visiting the most spectacular Lodges Africa has
to offer, incorporating extreme comfort with a taste of wild
places off the tourist beat, where one can feel the rhythm and
heartbeat of wild Africa, yet want for nothing.
Robert and William are fourth
generation Kenyans from a family that has always been connected
with wildlife. The Carr-Hartley brothers both rode a rhino
before a horse and both speak several Native dialects, more
comfortable with Swahili than perhaps their mother tongue,
English. And have always been more at home under canvas than
concrete. They can both fly aeroplanes and helicopters, and
Robert has been voted Kenya's Photographer of The Year 4 times.
The Carr-Hartley's cater to their clients with expertise,
professionalism, sensitivity and panache, they know the inside
story of animals, the animal psyche and emotion, the social
order of the different species, the trials and tribulations of
the natural world and its denizens and how they cope with danger
on a daily basis. In this there are lessons for us humans, for
Africa is a great leveller, placing things back into perspective
within the awesome symmetry of Nature.

Every trip is led by professional
and experienced guides, all of whom have Africa and its wild
places entrenched in their very souls. They will escort you with
sensitivity and friendliness to places where one can listen to
the silence of the natural world in an unspoilt and pristine
setting that brings balm to the spirit. Experience the great
rolling savannahs pulsating with life, where the thundering of
thousands of the hooves of the great herbivore herds combine
with the mystery of wild sounds of communication. See Africa's
majestic snow tipped mountains and their jewelled tarns, soak up
the power of the magnificent tropical forests; experience the
rugged and mystical charm of semi arid country where the animals
have been adapted to cope with a harsh environment, and even the
true deserts, populated by unwesternized, yet friendly people,
whose culture has not been tarnished by time. Africa must surely
be the original biblical Garden of Eden, for nowhere else does
such an array of life provide such an unbelievable spectacle and
touch the soul in such a spiritual way. Many different Gardens
of Eden still exist in Africa, if one knows where, and how, to
find them.
